Book To Screen Adaptations

The first time Michael Connelly’s work was adapted for the screen was in 2002 with the movie “Blood Work.” Clint Eastwood played the main character, Terry McCaleb, and directed the film.

Unfortunately, it didn’t do well at the box office or with critics, marking Eastwood’s last action role.

After “Blood Work,” the subsequent adaptation came with “The Lincoln Lawyer,” based on Connelly’s book. Matthew McConaughey starred as Mick Haller in the movie, but it didn’t turn into a series of films.

However, in 2022, a TV show based on “The Lincoln Lawyer” was released, starring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller.

Streaming platforms are the best fit for Connelly’s stories. Amazon Studios has already produced “Bosch,” a series that ran for seven seasons with Titus Welliver in the lead role. It even led to a spin-off called “Bosch: Legacy,” which is now gearing up for its second season.

Additionally, there are plans for two more spin-offs, one focusing on Renée Ballard and the other on Jerry Edgar.
