This is not bad advice, but I have been thinking about it a lot lately. I agree with the point that you don’t have to be materialistic and that the most important things in life cannot be bought with money. After all, among the really important things are things like health, precious human relationships, family and friends, etc.In the same way, all kinds of experiences, successes and recognition are not dependent on money, although there are exceptions. So attachment to objects should not be a factor in our lives and is often linked to pettiness and superficiality. However, there are cases where attachment to objects is justified.

Table of Contents

Toggle

The comfort and security a teddy bear can give

An item of clothing that we are attached to

Your favourite coffee mug

Sometimes our memories lives in objects

The comfort and security a teddy bear can give

Children can get very attached to a favourite toy, blanket or piece of clothing. It can give comfort, security and reassurance when a child knows someone or something is with them. Being alone can be frightening, so having a familiar object with them can give them a sense of being safer.

That’s why most children sleep with a teddy bear, and experts say there’s nothing to be ashamed of or anything wrong with sleeping with a teddy bear as an adult. It’s also said to help us improve sleep quality and sleep more deeply and restfully.

Also see: Enhance Collaboration with Glass Office Partitions

An item of clothing that we are attached to

There are certain pieces of clothing or accessories that we have a particular attachment to. Sometimes we find it hard to give them up even when we’ve outgrown them or they’ve worn out. We may cling to them because we simply love that particular item of clothing, but there may be other reasons.

For example, it may have been a gift from someone important to us, or we may have fond memories of that particular item of clothing that we don’t want to part with. Of course, getting rid of a garment does not mean that we have to get rid of the memories that came with it, but the two are somehow intertwined in us, and that is only natural.

I’m sure we’ve all experienced the feeling of being unwilling to part with a bridal veil, although, we’ll never use it again. We don’t want to part with the tracking boots we’ve had so many wonderful adventures wearing. Or we don’t want to throw away the first rose we received from our partner, or there are the baby’s milk teeth or the first lock of hair.

Your favourite coffee mug

I don’t think there is a person who doesn’t have a favourite coffee or tea cup. I would like to bring a personal story, because of course I have a favourite mug too. When I lived at home with my parents, my grandfather gave me a mug. It was a yellow mug with a big, comfortable handle and it said Lemon Kasyno on it. I don’t know where the old man got it, but he gave it to me.

After I got the Lemon Kasyno mug, I only drank from that particular mug. That became my personal mug. And it wasn’t even that special. But for me, it was indescribably unique, because it was a gift from my grandfather, with whom I was very close.

After I moved into my own place, I took all my personal belongings from my parents’ house. The only item that was very close to my heart that I left at my parents’ house was my Lemon Kasyno mug. I deliberately left it in my childhood home. I wanted to leave an object very close to my heart that I knew would be there waiting for me when I wasn’t in my old home.

Also see: Professional Dog Grooming At Home In NYC

Sometimes our memories lives in objects

I still have a strong attachment to that mug, even though a few years ago its handle was broken off. No matter, I still use it as before. Unfortunately, my grandfather is no longer with us, but his memory is indelible in our hearts. I cherish the moments we spent together.

Also see: Myinstants – Meme SoundBoard & Sound Buttons

I still drink from that yellow mug and every time I take it out, I remember my grandfather. When we were sorting through his things, I found some plaid shirts that were just my size and in very good condition. I love them and wear them often. That’s how memories and experiences are brought to life through objects.

For more such interesting content, keep reading Myinstants Blog.

We often hear people, especially older people, say that we shouldn’t get attached to objects.
